Stephen Nganga

"I migrated to the United States in the late 90s to attend college in Oklahoma, where I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Management and Organization Leadership. Later, I moved to Maryland where I attained an MS in IT Information Assurance as well as an MBA, both from UMGC.

I started my career 20 years ago at AOL (for those who remember America Online!) when a good number of people thought their computers' CD drives were cup holders (true story)! Over the years, I have worked in different areas of IT including support, engineering, administration, security, and management.

In my free time, I prefer to spend time with my family and friends. I also volunteer in my community and have run in a couple of marathons to raise funds for worthy causes. I enjoy watching college football and I am an enthusiastic OU Sooners football fan (Boomer! Sooner!)."

Fun Fact

While I appreciate spending time outdoors, the east coast winters took some getting used to (considering that I grew up in an all summer environment). But if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! One winter we headed out to Liberty Ski Resort in PA. Ever since, my kids and I are now avid skiers, having adapted to our cooler winter temps.

Favorite Restaurant

Any Roadside BBQ Joint. There is just something about an authentic BBQ pit that a restaurant Smoker cannot replicate.

Favorite TV Show

The Wire: I have always found the storyline very authentic. It was also my introduction to Baltimore City before I moved to the area.

Weirdest Food I've Ever Eaten

PUMPKINS!!! Hated those things since I was I kid. It was not until I moved to America that I realized they are a decoration for Halloween !!!

Super Power

If I could have a superpower it would be to read people's minds, then I would get along with everyone.

Can't Leave the House Without

Like most people, My phone. It is my watch, my run trainer, my work tool……. I could keep going.
