The Challenge

A large, regional utility required a partner capable of managing the large-scale staging, configuration, and deployment of computing devices while minimizing disruption to daily operations.

The program involves deploying thousands of systems and peripherals across multiple locations while coordinating closely with the client's Tier 2 IT Support Team, with the ability to stop and start the engagement over a multi-year period. The project required detailed planning, precise inventory tracking, efficient desk-side installation, and reliable data migration to ensure employees could transition seamlessly to new systems.

Additionally, the engagement required a deployment partner capable of maintaining consistent staffing, strong communication, and operational flexibility to address schedule changes, facility access requirements, and the logistical demands of high-volume deployments.

The ATS Solution

ATS provided a dedicated deployment team to support the client's computing device refresh initiatives as they are scheduled, delivering technical expertise and logistical coordination to ensure efficient rollout across multiple locations.

ATS supported the program through:

  • Pre-deployment preparation, including imaging coordination, system verification, and equipment tracking

  • Project planning, establishing deployment schedules, readiness procedures, and user documentation

  • Desk-side installation, performing device swaps, peripheral setup, and connectivity validation

  • Data migration and testing, ensuring user data and profiles were restored prior to sign-off

  • Inventory management and reporting, providing daily updates on deployments, assets, and technician activity

 

The project is executed by a team of four full-time resources — one Team Lead and three Deployment Technicians — with oversight from ATS program leadership to ensure alignment with the client's technical and operational objectives. ATS leadership actively manages team performance, retention, and workforce continuity to maintain consistent service delivery. This includes structured onboarding for new technicians, ongoing performance monitoring, and alignment with program staffing requirements. ATS also ensures compliance with Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) participation goals, supporting the client's commitment to inclusive economic development while maintaining a stable, high-performing technical workforce.

The Results

ATS successfully completed round 1 of the refresh initiative, delivering measurable improvements in deployment efficiency and operational reliability.
