The Challenge

A large healthcare organization needed to modernize its datacenter infrastructure to support critical clinical systems and safeguard sensitive health data. The legacy 3-2-1 environment, built on aging, end-of-life hardware and outdated backup systems, was limiting performance and posing operational risks. Key objectives included:

  • Improving scalability and performance

  • Modernizing backup and disaster recovery capabilities

  • Simplifying infrastructure management

  • Meeting strict uptime and compliance requirements for healthcare environments

The ATS Solution

ATS delivered a full-scale infrastructure transformation centered on Cisco HyperFlex for compute and storage modernization and Cohesity for advanced data protection. VMware technologies were deployed to enable virtualization, central management, and automated disaster recovery. As Program Manager and Master Contractor, ATS led every phase of the engagement—from solution design and procurement to implementation, migration, training, and ongoing support.

 

Key solution components:

  • Modern HCI Architecture:
    Dual-cluster Cisco HyperFlex deployment using HXAF240 and HXAF220 M5 nodes to support primary and secondary environments.

  • Enterprise Backup Modernization:
    Cohesity deployed on Cisco UCS C240 M5 servers, delivering faster, more secure backups and improved RTO/RPO metrics.

  • Robust Network Infrastructure:
    Cisco UCS servers, 6454 Fabric Interconnects, and Nexus 9300 Series switches enabled high-throughput and low-latency connectivity.

  • Centralized Management & Monitoring:
    Cisco Intersight provided real-time health monitoring, policy-based updates, and lifecycle management.

  • Virtualization & Business Continuity:
    VMware vSphere, vCenter, and Site Recovery Manager were integrated to automate disaster recovery and maintain service continuity.

  • Comprehensive Delivery Services:
    ATS provided over 850 hours of services—spanning deployment, workload migration, CloudCenter implementation, training, and operational mentoring.

 

To ensure long-term resilience, ATS also implemented a fully replicated disaster recovery site in a geographically distant region, offering uninterrupted access to critical systems in the event of a regional outage.
